If you’re planning a trip to Busan with your family, the Gwangalli Drone Show is one of the best evening activities to include in your itinerary.
I visited with my family, and the moment hundreds of drones lifted into the sky above the ocean, creating shapes and animations, both the kids and adults were equally fascinated.
It’s a short performance, but the atmosphere of watching it together makes the experience surprisingly memorable.

What Is the Gwangalli Drone Show?
The Gwangalli Drone Show is a weekly evening event held along Gwangalli Beach.
Hundreds—sometimes thousands—of drones rise above the shoreline, moving in sync to form characters, patterns, and themed stories.
- Approx. 10 minutes per show
- Two evening performances every Saturday
- Themes change weekly (animation, seasonal concepts, game-inspired designs, etc.)
- Open, free viewing from anywhere along the beach
- A panoramic view that includes both the drone formations and the illuminated Gwangan Bridge
Because the show is open and easily accessible, it’s a great addition to any family trip—even if you’re exploring Busan on a tight schedule.
Why It’s Perfect for Families
- Kids absolutely love it
When the drones form characters or bright patterns in the sky, children instantly react with excitement. - Short and highly engaging
At around 10 minutes, it’s just long enough for everyone to enjoy without young kids getting tired. - Easy to watch from anywhere
You can sit on the beach, use a bench along the walkway, or watch from a nearby café or restaurant. - Great for photos and videos
The combination of the drone lights, the ocean, and Gwangan Bridge makes it easy to capture beautiful shots.
Viewing Tips (Especially Helpful for Travelers with Kids)
- Arrive 20–30 minutes early
This gives you time to find a comfortable viewing spot and let the kids explore the beach before the show starts. - Choose a spot with the bridge in the background
The best photos and videos usually include both the drones and the Gwangan Bridge. - Stroller-friendly
The entire beachfront walkway is flat, making it easy for families with young children. - Bring light snacks or drinks
It keeps the kids happy while waiting for the show.
Performance Schedule
The drone show typically runs twice every Saturday evening.
Exact times may vary seasonally, so it’s best to check updates from the official channel before visiting.

Can You Visit Busan for the Drone Show as a Day Trip from Seoul?
Yes—it’s very possible.
KTX trains run frequently between Seoul and Busan (approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes),
so you can plan a simple day trip:
Afternoon arrival → Gwangalli Beach walk → Evening drone show → Return to Seoul by KTX.
For families traveling with kids, this makes the drone show a flexible and easy nighttime activity.
A Small Personal Note
Watching the show with my family turned into one of those unexpected moments that stay with you.
As the drones lit up the sky, my kids waved excitedly and pointed at each shape.
The show may be short, but the feeling of sharing that moment together made it one of the most memorable experiences of our Busan trip.
